Ka Makana Ali‘i Celebrates Halloween with Makana Kids Munchkin Masquerade Instagram Costume Contest

The annual favorite Halloween contest goes virtual at Ka Makana Ali‘i

KAPOLEI, HI (October 28, 2021) — Ka Makana Ali‘i invites its community to celebrate Halloween weekend at the Center for West O‘ahu with a Makana Kids Munchkin Masquerade, Island Craft Fairs Tricks & Treats Fall Fest, and a Halloween Cat Adoption Special at PetSmart.

In lieu of traditional trick-or-treating, Ka Makana Ali‘i is inviting its Makana Kids member families to a Munchkin Masquerade on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. The first 300 families to show their Makana Kids email will receive a pre-packed bag of treats from the Center, while supplies last. Treat bags will be filled with candy and goodies for keiki 12 and under. This event is contactless and is limited to the first 300 families that attend. Families must observe social distancing. Keiki under 12 in costume are invited to enter for a chance to win one of five prizes in the Center’s Makana Kids Instagram costume contest! Keiki in costume take a photo in front of the spooky Ka Makana Ali‘i logo now through Sunday, Oct. 31. Find the spooky logo in the Macy’s wing, opposite Bath & Body Works. Families that post photos on Instagram must tag @kamakanaalii and use #LOVEKMA to be entered to win. Prizes will be awarded to the parent of the keiki under 12 in the following categories: Most Creative, Spookiest, Cutest, Best Group and Funniest.

On Saturday, Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Island Craft Fairs is hosting its Tricks & Treats Fall Fest in Center Court. Support local vendors and artisans with favorite local snacks, clothing, jewelry, masks, hand sewn totes and more! The community can also participate in games, giveaways and goodies during the Fall Fest.

PetSmart is offering a Halloween Adoption Special now through Oct. 31. Adopt a black or orange cat from PetSmart and receive a free FVRCP vaccination or wellness bundle, which includes flea treatment, nail clipping, and ear cleaning. The vaccination is valued at $32 and the bundle is valued at $40. All Poi Dogs & Popoki adoptables are sterilized, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed and have received their first shots. Adopters also receive a free coupon booklet from PetSmart with over $450 in savings on pet supplies. Adoption fees are $50 for an adult and $100 for a kitten. Visit PetSmart for more information.
