Ka Makana Ali‘i Celebrates Third Birthday with Anuhea, Fireworks, Gift with Purchase & Entertainment All Weekend Long

Popular singer-songwriter Anuhea & local band Ten Feet headline the birthday weekend entertainment on Saturday, Oct. 19 as fireworks light up the Center

KAPOLEI, HI (October 14, 2019) – Ka Makana Ali‘i is celebrating its third birthday with fireworks, a gift with purchase, a fashion show, Chicken Wars, sales, giveaways, entertainment and more — all weekend long! The birthday celebration kicks off on Friday, October 18 and continues through Sunday, October 20. On Saturday, Oct. 19, the Center welcomes Hawaii’s favorite entertainers like Anuhea, Ten Feet and The Royal Hawaiian Band along with performances by Hypersquad 4 Life Dance Studio, Air Force Band, Hawaii Youth Choir and Halau Hula ‘O Hokulani.

The Kapolei High School band opens up the birthday festivities on Friday, Oct. 18 with a spirited performance at Center Court from 3 to 4 p.m. Then foodies of a feather will want to visit the Pineapple Pavilion in the Macy’s wing for Ka Makana Ali‘i’s first-ever Chicken Wars from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss the showdown between Kickin Chick’n’s authentic Korean fried chicken, Panda Express’ new Sichuan hot chicken, Moani Island Bistro & Bar’s Thai chicken meatballs and ‘Ōlino by Consolidated Theatres’ mini chicken sandwiches. Enjoy a sample, cast your vote for the People’s Choice favorite, and receive a surprise gift. The event concludes with an electrifying traditional fire dance and drumming performance by the popular Tatau Productions at 7:30 p.m. at the Pineapple Pavilion.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, award-winning Maui native singer-songwriter Anuhea headlines the show from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Anuhea credits her easygoing island style to influences like Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, India Arie and Jason Mraz. Her music has reached the top 10 on the iTunes pop charts and Billboard Hot 100, and Anuhea has been awarded two prestigious Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards. Her album "Anuhea” was also listed as one of HONOLULU Magazine's 25 Greatest Hawaii Albums of the New Century.

Anuhea will not be the only star lighting up the skies above Ka Makana Ali‘i. The Center has planned an aerial firework show in celebration of its third birthday. For best viewing, find a spot near Center Court at 8 p.m. (mats are ok, no chairs or coolers)!

Ten Feet closes out the evening with a performance from 8:10 to 9 p.m. With two Billboard Chart-topping albums under their belt, several Hawaii Music and Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards, dozens of tours and hundreds of performances, Ten Feet has earned its reputation as one of Hawaii’s top-tier bands.

For all those who love fall fashion, don’t miss the fashion show presented by Ka Makana Ali‘i retailers on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 12:05 to 1:15 p.m. Check out chic trends, popular accessories and must-have pieces — all available throughout Ka Makana Ali‘i.
