Ka Makana Ali‘i Celebrates the Holidays with Contactless Santa Photo Set, Merry Little Shop & Strolls, Magical Snowing Tree and more!

The holidays are here and the Center for West O‘ahu has offerings to keep the community safe

KAPOLEI, HI (December 11, 2020) — Ka Makana Ali‘i welcomes its community to safely shop, dine and celebrate the holidays with a contactless Santa photo experience, weekly shop & stroll events every Wednesday in December, a magical snowing tree and more. The Center for West O‘ahu is home to more than 100 retailers ranging from locally owned brands to national favorites. This holiday season shoppers can safely buy online and pickup in store or arrange for curbside pickup from participating retailers.

Families are invited to Make it Merry at the new Santa photo set next to T&C Surf Designs in the ‘Ōlino Theatre wing of the Center. Look for the reindeer greeters outside the store! The set is open daily now through Dec. 24 with USB photo packages starting at $30 (prints are available through www.expressionshawaii.net). Santa will be in his sleigh with a mask on, socially distanced from families for this contactless photo experience. Upon entry, all family members shall temperature check and hand sanitize. Only one family will be allowed to wait in the studio at a time and masks shall be worn until photos are taken. Santa’s calendar is filling up fast! Ka Makana Ali‘i’s magical snowing tree is back in the Macy’s wing with daily snowfalls at the top of every hour for 10 minutes at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The community is invited to a Merry Little Shop and Stroll on Wednesday nights in December. Get some Christmas shopping done in a fun and festive, socially distanced atmosphere. Enjoy live hula “caroling,” support small businesses at the Farmers Market, score free giveaways and discounts, and venture on a scavenger hunt to locate the keywords in a text-to-win contest for a shopping spree at the Center.

“This holiday season may look different than previous years, but we’re grateful for our community who continues to safely shop, dine and play at our open-air Center,” said Stephanie England, general manager at Ka Makana Ali‘i. “At the Center for West O‘ahu, community is at the heart of everything we do. The health and well-being of our ‘ohana – our tenants, employees, patrons and community — is our top priority.”

Guests are asked to avoid entering the Center if they have flu-like symptoms or otherwise do not feel well. Guests entering the property are asked to maintain a six-foot distance from one another and to avoid shaking hands or engaging in unnecessary physical contact. Patrons entering the Center shall wear face masks that cover the nose and mouth. These should be worn at all times while at Ka Makana Ali‘i.

The Center is observing modified hours this holiday season. Individual store hours may differ.

  • Through Dec. 17, the Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and  10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday
  • From Dec. 18 to 23, the Center is giving you an extra hour to shop, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Christmas Eve, Dec. 24: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Closed on Christmas Day
  • Sunday, December 27:  10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
