Ka Makana Ali‘i Welcomes Community to Experience RAZOR Drifting, a High-Adrenaline, Drifting Concept
The 3,000-square-foot space is home to a first-of its-kind, high-adrenaline drifting experience that’s safe and fun for the whole ‘ohana
KAPOLEI, HI (March 1, 2021) — Ka Makana Ali‘i welcomes its community to experience RAZOR Drifting at the Center for West O‘ahu. The high-adrenaline drifting experience is located in the Macy’s wing of the Center next to Hawaii’s Finest with more than 3,000 square feet of space to race alongside friends and family. RAZOR Drifting recently added a third track to accommodate racers of all levels.
The concept came to owner David Nagamine when he saw the carts in action and began brainstorming ways that he could create an auto experience tailored to keiki. He worked with his contractor to build the custom tracks and personally designed the whole space — from the color of the track to the paintings of popular local landmarks like the Haleiwa bridge, Ko‘olau mountains and the Waialua sugar mill.
RAZOR Drifting has a full-size track for kids and adults, a Shift track (for younger keiki), and a high-speed track for adults with greater skill. Crazy Cart is an electric cart that is designed to drift around corners and glide, similar to driving in the snow. Each cart goes about 3 to 4 mph, which is “just fast enough to put a smile on your face,” Nagamine says. “You can tell the keiki and adults have fun because they come off the track with a big smile.”
The drifting experience is open to keiki as young as 3 years old with prices ranging from $10 per Crazy Cart Shift drift session (for younger kids) to $15 for Crazy Cart drift sessions (for both kids and adults). Each session lasts for about 10 minutes and allows guests to drive, spin and drift like never before.
“I took a lot of my love for design and put it into these tracks,” said Nagamine. “This experience is perfect for this time, allowing families that come to feel safe and have fun. We’re keeping everyone as safe as possible while providing a joyful and memorable experience.”
To keep everyone visiting RAZOR Drifting safe, Nagamine installed advanced air filtration systems equipped with MERV 18 filters that trap particles down to .3 microns (including the COVID-19 virus). Staff are also continually disinfecting the space and sanitizing all equipment before and after every ride.
Guests will be required to wear a mask at all times in RAZOR Drifting, and must wear a headsock while drifting to keep helmets sanitary. Headsocks can be purchased in-store for $3.50, or guests have the option to bring their own helmets. For more information on RAZOR Drifting, visit https://razordrift808.com/.
“RAZOR Drifting is an experience that is unlike anything we currently have the Center for West O‘ahu,” said Stephanie England, general manager at Ka Makana Ali‘i. “We look forward to seeing our community having fun in a safe manner.”
RAZOR Drifting is open during Center hours: Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
