Ka Makana Ali‘i Welcomes S&S Thai Kitchen to the Center for West O‘ahu

The Center’s newest eatery features simple and authentic Thai and Laotian specialty dishes made with fresh produce from the S&S family farm in Kahuku

KAPOLEI, HI (May 2, 2020) — Ka Makana Ali‘i is excited to welcome S&S Thai Kitchen to the Center for West Oahu. The eatery specializes in traditional Thai and Laotian specialty dishes made with fresh produce from the S&S family farm in Kahuku. S&S Thai Kitchen opens today near the Food Market at Ka Makana Ali‘i next to Koa Pancake House.

The 1,300-square-foot restaurant is open for takeout, curbside pick-up and delivery via Uber Eats, DoorDash and Bite Squad. The eatery focuses on fresh, healthy and simply prepared dishes with no added MSG. Most of the vegetables and fruits used in their dishes — like papaya, long bean, basil and onion — are grown on the S&S family farm in Kahuku. With access to a local, reliable source of fresh produce, which is 70% organic, S&S Thai Kitchen is supporting Hawaii's food sustainability goals.

Some of the fresh, simple and authentic Thai and Laotian specialties include pad thai, handmade noodle soup, nam pork fried rice and mango sticky rice. S&S Thai Kitchen also serves dishes found exclusively at the Ka Makana Ali‘i location, like its spaghetti kee mao (stir-fried spaghetti noodles with onion, bell pepper and basil), pad preaw wan (stir-fried cucumber, bell pepper, tomato and pineapple with sweet and sour sauce), and handmade noodle salad (made with handmade rice and tapioca noodles, cabbage, long beans, carrot, broccoli, tomato, lime, bamboo shoots and shrimp).

S&S stands for “som” and “sak,” which mean success and happiness in Thai. Owner Jason Vongprachanh, who lives in Ewa Beach, wanted to expand his restaurant to West Oahu so his community could experience fresh and healthy Thai and Laotian dishes.
