KAPOLEI, HI (April 27, 2018) — It’s almost Lei Day in Hawaii nei and Ka Makana Ali‘i is celebrating with a special Kanikapila Sunday! Enjoy live entertainment, free lei making and unique craft workshops sponsored by No‘eau Designers as the Center for West Oahu celebrates Lei Day. Shop, dine and celebrate with friends and family this weekend!

The lei is a symbol of aloha known around the world. Lei Day got its start in 1927 with a celebration of a few people wearing lei in downtown Honolulu, and has since grown to be a day to celebrate the special gift perpetuated throughout the Islands.
Ka Makana Ali‘i is celebrating with live entertainment from Halau ‘O Nāpualaʻikauikaʻiu from 12 to 12:45 p.m. and Nā Lei O Ka ʻIwa Haʻa I Ka Lani from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
Free lei making with Glady’s Lei Stand is open to the public with a choice of fresh flower lei or eyelash yarn lei, wristlets or anklets.
Sign up on our website for haku making with Flower Child HI ($45 per person, all materials provided) or papale niu (coconut hat) making with master lauhala weavers Cheryl and Mahina Pukahi ($25 per person, all materials provided).
