Ka Makana Ali‘i Hosts the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs and its 2024 Prince Kūhiō Parade & Tribute on Saturday, March 16

KAPOLEI, HI (March 14, 2024) — Ka Makana Ali‘i is pleased to host the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs and its 2024 Prince Kūhiō Parade and Tribute on Saturday, March 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Prince Kūhiō Parade is one of four legacy parades recognized by the State of Hawaiʻi. This annual gathering brings community groups from across the state together to celebrate the life and legacy of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole.

Starting at 5 p.m., the 2024 Prince Kūhiō Parade will begin at Kapolei Hale, proceeding along Kapolei Parkway, and will end at Ka Makana Aliʻi. Along the two-mile route, attendees will witness a procession of floats, marching bands, paniolo and pa‘u riders, and parade units representing the local community.

The parade will conclude at Ka Makana Aliʻi. Center Court entertainment includes a pre-show concert with Anthony Pfluke from 6 to 6:45 p.m., followed by a tribute honoring the life and legacy of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole. Ho‘okupu will be accepted from the community, followed by entertainment including numbers from the Kilohana Hula Show, speeches from key stakeholders, a performance by Hālau Hula ‘O Hokulani, and the Three Ds – Del Beazley, David Kawika Kahiapo and Dwight Kanae. During the program, three separate prizes will be awarded for roundtrip airfares for two anywhere Alaska Airlines flies.

All ho‘okupu collected will be delivered to Mauna ‘Ala or Prince Kūhiō’s statue in Waikīkī at the conclusion of the event.
